The Palette

In this work, the Fibonacci ratio, commonly referred to as the golden ratio, provided the impetus for the selection of a cadmium yellow and gold colour palette, which is in keeping with the economic theme as well as the branding of JL.

The Strokes

The artful application of petite and bountiful brushstrokes imbues the canvas with an enlivening texture and vitality, evocative of a plush fur that resonates with our primal, animalistic essence.

The Style

In homage to the seminal work of Pablo Picasso, Guernica, the aesthetic approach of cubism has been embraced as a guiding principle. The art form of cubism, with its fragmented and multi-faceted perspective, provides a fertile ground for the exploration of complex concepts and the representation of multiple viewpoints simultaneously. This artistic style has been adopted as a means of expressing a multifaceted and nuanced perspective on the subject at hand, much like the way in which Guernica challenged the viewer to confront the atrocities of war and the complexity of human experience.

The Symbolism

The central theme of this piece revolves around a contemporary conflict that has emerged in the wake of the digital revolution, a stark departure from historical battles such as those depicted in Picasso’s Guernica. The artwork confronts us with two opposing mentalities – the bear and the bull mindsets – which not only vary from individual to individual but also within ourselves. Rather than swords and shields, the tools of modern warfare have shifted to the humble mouse and keyboard. The composition of the artwork adheres to the fibonacci golden ratio, a mathematical principle that has been observed in everything from the natural world to market prices.

All of the raw emotions and battle cries are contained within the magnificent wingspan of a soaring songbird, its reach extending far beyond the confines of the borders of the canvas, surrounded by thought bubble-like clouds. This allegory encapsulates the essence of what has come to be known as The Dawn Chorus, a joyous celebration of life and the human experience amidst the struggle for survival in the modern era. While the interpretation of the artwork is ultimately left up to the individual, it is certain that there is a deeper meaning to be found in this intricate piece.

The Concept

The genesis of this artistic creation was born in the digital realm, but the artist sought to imbue it with a tactile and dimensional quality that is often absent in digital art. The intention was to pay homage to the legacy of Pablo Picasso, who used his art to protest against the ravages of war, while simultaneously drawing attention to the current socio-economic conflicts of our times.

I deliberately sought to infuse the work with a tangible quality, creating an interplay between the visual and tactile elements, ultimately elevating the artwork to a higher level of engagement and sensory experience for the viewer.

If you are interested in acquiring this item you can purchase it on the Aesthetes Marketplace where you can pay in either crypto or through traditional payment options. You will receive the unique, animated 1:1 NFT with original sound design.
The painting must undergo a drying period before its final coat of varnish is applied, which is a necessary step to ensure that the paint doesn't lift off the canvas. The current NFT owner can trade or sell it before the drying period is complete, however, they will forfeit their rights to the painting and transfer the ownership to the new holder. A test to see if the painting has been oxidised for varnishing will commence on June 2023.
